When Billy sold his first company it had more locations than McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King combined. Instead of chasing the next opportunity, Billy stepped off the entrepreneurial treadmill in order to pause and think about his purpose for the next chapter.

Billy Prim shared his halftime journey with us live this week during our Halftime Alumni Spotlight. After reading Halftime and praying through what God wanted him to do at that point in life, two things became clear. God had given Billy the skill set to create businesses and motivate people around a mission, and it wasn’t time to throw in the towel on those abilities just yet.

The start of Billy’s halftime journey wasn’t too different from the start of any successful business. He needed to craft a mission statement. Guided by a Halftime coach, Billy and his group of like-minded peers sought to help each other understand their strengths, weaknesses, and next steps for the season ahead. This support and structured process was integral in nailing down what the next chapter would be about.

Billy landed on a mission of using his entrepreneurial skills and experiences to inspire his family, business associates, and community to live a better life.

Billy started yearly family meetings to discuss common values and develop a plan for living them out to bless others. The meetings have grown to include a facilitator and series of activities to strengthen relationships within the family and with the Lord. With thousands of employees, Billy is intentional about living out his faith through his actions and sharing the story of success that came from placing God front and center and building on that foundation. Billy knew that he wanted to give back to the Winston-Salem community that serves as home for his family and businesses. He is passionate about gathering believers from various backgrounds and churches to focus on what they have in common and work together for God’s kingdom.

Striving to equip his family, business associates, and community to live better lives while starting and scaling a second business has not been without curveballs. However, Billy’s halftime journey prepared him with an attitude of faith to execute God’s plan, including the road bumps along the way.

In addition to our live interview with Billy, we captured 5 Fast Facts about him to encourage and equip you on your journey.

5 Fast Facts

1. What book has had the greatest impact on your life?

Definitely the Bible. My daily quiet time and prayer does more for me than anything you could imagine.

2. If you could spend an hour with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be?

I’ve got to say Jesus Christ, how great would that be?

3.Where is your “happy place”?

My happy place is the beach at Kiawah Island, South Carolina. It’s private, inspiring, and a great place to think.

4. What aspect of the halftime journey has been most transformational for you and why?

The silent retreat was very impactful. I never slowed down long enough to hear to what God was trying to tell me, so having the opportunity to disconnect, sit back, and listen was special.

5. What has been the most beneficial spiritual practice in your life?

Morning scripture to start the day. Before I open up Outlook and read through the 22 problems waiting, I like to focus on what is most important and find things I’m grateful for.
